so, whatever.

after allowing time for the announcement to seep in, i understand, finally, why kenny (future CEO of future Extrame Records) was so pissed with being awarded the SMU Study Award.

it's almost as if the school administration was saying "oh, you have good grades but you're not geekish or jock-like enough and you're kinda poor so let's give you some other study award to show that we're still somewhat meritocratic. too bad for you; we don't really care."

and upon reading the tenure and and benefits:

Each Study Award, valued at up to $5,000 per year, is tenable for up to four years of studies, subject to good academic performance.

The Award offers financial support as follows:

(a) Annual living allowance of $2,500

(b) The balance of $2,500 may be used once, during the tenure of the award, for each of the following on a reimbursement basis:

(i) Purchase of a notebook computer
(ii) University-approved study trips such as overseas student exchange programmes, business study missions, summer study programmes, etc.
(iii) Participation in approved overseas conferences/seminars.
(iv) Overseas internship or community service attachment.
