"I believed if she had walked out on that Kodak stage, we would have seen the best of Melinda," Cowell says. it was a night full of expressions, with jordin looking close to a seizure, simon in disbelief, blake's mom looking shellshocked and melinda's mom heartbroken. i honestly didn't understand why melinda looked so calm and accepting when ryan seacrest announced her elimination; it clearly upped the level of mourning.  but i'd have to award the most awkward moment when ryan passed melinda the microphone for her swan song.
