		ATTN: Duty Supervisors
		When you are unkind to us, we smile less. We can't help it. We are human. [extended rant] this has nothing about being unprofessional. we are not professionals to begin with. we work part-time on a schedule, filling up our slots which would otherwise be reserved for recreation, earning a measly $5.4 per hour. we slog our days away, clocking more hours working than we are paid, doing shifts during chinese new year to relieve a certain degree of manpower shortage during the holiday season (and of course to get out of visiting, but that's besides the point). we are informed to be punctual, smile every second we don the uniform, to find a spot to hide from public view (for a drink) when we feel thirsty, to fend away taxi drivers who curse and swear (or simply ignore us) when we approach, not being allowed a second of rest whilst on service host duty. all this while the full-timers are reporting late for work, enjoying unofficial breaks in air-conditioned offices while we sweat under the humid sky, smoking in the control room, and reprimanding us for offences they are clearly committing themselves. it's obvious there is clearly a difference between management and staff, and in this case, between permanent staff and the temporary. but when it unfortunately leads to a disparity in treatment, how do you expect service from the heart? when it comes to the military, ruling with an iron hand is an effective device due to the law of insubordination; nobody is happy, but work gets done. in hospitality, authoritarian systems lead to general displeasure; nobody is happy, and nothing gets done well. and i am obviously not happy. don't be confused, i do love the job scope. but not enough money and not enough smiles contribute to the high turnover rate. at least 5 people are quitting from sky tower this month, and i'm contributing to the worthy cause. it is clearly time to start drafting a letter to the management regarding the crumbs to be cleared. i sure as hell hope to get fired doing this. art from postsecret.
