		maybe it was a result of being seated between two coughing uncles, or that the theatre laughed at some of the most inappropriate moments, but i didn't gather much from the film. though i did like the fact that the colours were desaturated throughout. when you're disgusted by war as much as i am, you question yourself the point of watching something that would undeniably make you cringe, over and over again. witnessing stupid military people commit stupid military acts is major eye-rolling activity. needless to say, this did remind me of my days in the army. i'm embarassed to say, that my favourite scenes (rated via emotional value) include hearing children sing a terrible song over the radio and the death of a dog. yet the film is, i guess, one of the better war films, with a more hectic and morally controversial plot that features the cultural aspects of the setting and its inmates, and that's what really matters.
